ORDER COPIES OF BIRTH, MARRIAGE, DEATH & DIVORCE CERTIFICATES AT ANCESTRY.COM Order copies of Birth, Death, Marriage and Divorce Certificates for your ancestors. Why order a certificate? SEARCH THE SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX (SSDI) at Ancestry.com The Social Security Administration Death Master File contains information on MILLIONS of deceased individuals with United States social security numbers whose deaths were reported to the Social Security Administration. Birth years for the individuals listed range from 1875 to last year. Information in these records includes name, birth date, death date, and last known residence.
SEARCH THE OBITUARY COLLECTION at Ancestry.com The collection contains recent Obituaries from hundreds of newspapers. We scour the Internet daily to find new obituaries and extract the facts into our database. We also provide source information and links to the full obituary text. The wealth of genealogical and biographical information to be found in an informative obituary certainly makes the effort of searching for one worthwhile. For many of our ancestors (and relatives), the obituary is the only "biographical sketch" that was ever devoted to that individual. In addition to names, dates, and places of birth, marriage, and death, the obituary often identifies relationships of the deceased as child, sibling, parent, grandparent, etc., to numerous other individuals. Obituaries may even suggest other documentation of an individual's death - a death certificate in another county because the hospital was located there; church or cemetery records (by identifying the place of burial or the officiating minister); or records of a coroner's inquest because the death was sudden or unexpected.
SEARCH THE 1930 CENSUS! at Ancestry.com The 1930 United States Federal Census is the largest census released to date. The census contains information about a household’s occupants including: birthplaces, occupations, immigration, citizenship, and military service. The census can be a valuable tool to use when researching your twentieth-century ancestors because it contains records for approximately 123 million Americans. If you had family in the United States during the early twentieth century, you are likely to find at least one relative’s information within these census records. This makes the 1930 census a good place to start research if you are a beginner, or if your family, vital, or religious records are missing.
